CFAER Presents

BITUIN SA ARAW NG PASKO
Filipinx Christmas Lantern Workshop

with Instructor, Christian Acfalle

Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 5:30-8:30PM
at CFAER
2225 Colorado Blvd. | LA, CA 90041

About the Workshop:

'Bituin sa Araw Ng Pasko,' translating to 'Christmas Day Star' is a parol making workshop led by instructor, Christian Acfalle. The word 'parol' is derived from the Spanish word 'farol,' which means 'lantern.' The parol is a star shaped lantern popular among many households in the Filipinx diaspora during the holidays. Some families will start hanging their parols & decorating as early as sept! In this workshop, visitors will learn how to assemble their own parol frame and spend time decorating them just in time for Christmas. This workshop is free, open to all ages and cultural backgrounds. Young children must be accompanied by an adult.

About the Instructor:
Christian Acfalle is currently a student enrolled at Glendale Community College majoring in sociology. He is an active member in GCC’s Filipinx club, Phamilya, serving as club Vice President. He has over two years of coursework in art that includes 2-D and 3-D design, sculpting, figure drawing, and digital design with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. He is very passionate about spreading awareness of Filipino-American history and culture and enjoys visiting the Philippines frequently with his family.
