​Interactive Hours!


Artist Michelle Castillo, creator of Lola’s Sari-Sari Store, will be hosting special sari-sari store hours as part of her installation for our ‘anotherspace’ Filipinx-American group art exhibition!
​

Lola’s Sari-Sari store installation will function as an alternative economy where folx can swap an item/create something/for store items! At the store, you can create a poem, share a recipe, a story, write a letter to a loved one, make a drawing on the themes of migration, home, homeland, culture, family, and community.

Suggested Items to Swap:
Fruits & Vegetables, Leave a note with one of your family recipes, share something from your culture, used books, vinyl, plants, and flowers. (Donations in any form are also accepted as an exchange.

Monday-Friday, 11am-5pm. Closed weekends.

Lola's Sari-Sari Store:
Malunggay/Moringa Workshop


As part of the anotherspace exhibit programming, Lola’s Sari-Sari Store will be facilitating a Moringa/Marunggay Workshop!

Join artist and creator behind Lola’s Kusina, Michelle Castillo, for a free community workshop at Eagle Rock Plaza on Saturday, November 23rd from 1:30 PM-2:30 PM!

In the workshop, we will be learning about the healing and culinary benefits of the moringa tree, which has been used as medicine and food in many different cultures.

Michelle will be sharing different ways to use moringa and sharing a Filipino dish from her childhood. The moringa will be coming from her backyard garden. She grew up in an intergenerational, immigrant, Filipino household where moringa is a big part of her culture and community.
